1st XI Player Profiles:

Name:  Simon Gallagher

Position:  Manager / Goalkeeper

Club Secretaries Comments:  Simon is a quality keeper. After being in charge of the reserves, this season he has stepped up to be 1st team manager.  His commitment and dedication is second to none and he has put together an excellent team on and off the pitch.  He is a Manchester United supporter - I suppose you can't get everything right!

Name:  Matt Allick

Position:  Goalkeeper

Managers Comments:  Matt is in he’s first season with the club and has been superb since coming in.  He’s a big lad and makes he’s presence known.  You wouldn’t want to be a striker bearing down on him.

Name:  Will Cross

Position:  Right Back

Managers Comments:  Even though he’s young, Will has been with the club for some time and has been superb throughout the years I’ve known him.  He very rarely puts a foot wrong and has most wingers in he’s pocket.

Name:  Lee Hemmings

Position:  Central Defender

Managers Comments:  It’s good to see Lee back after such a long layoff with he’s knee injury.  He’s walked back into the first team as if he hasn’t been away and he’s the sort of player that will give you everything without question.  He’s the perfect person to have as any club captain.

Name:  Tom McCombie

Position:  Central Defender

Managers Comments:  Tom is another stalwart of the club.  He’s been here for as long as I can remember and is an essential part of the first teams back line.  Apart from he’s weekly moan about this injury or that; he’s an ever present part of the club.

Name:  Tom George

Position:  Left Back

Managers Comments:  Mr Utility (sorry Tom).  Tom has played in more position than him or I can probably remember, but he’s done it all without question.  He’s the sort of player that will give you 100% no matter where he is playing on the pitch.

Name:  Alex Jennings

Position:  Right Midfield

Managers Comments:  Alex has made the transition from the 4th team two years ago, into the second team and then into the first team from the middle of the 08/09 session.  Previously a striker, he’s found he’s niche on the right wing were he can frighten any defence with he’s pace.  Not bad for someone who’s really (or claims to be) a goalkeeper.

Name:  Joe Heenan

Position:  Central Midfield

Managers Comments:  One of the youngest players in the first team, Joe has come in a done an amazing job in central midfield.  Joe’s no nonsense, high energy approach to his game has caused some older, more experienced players a lot of problems, and long may it continue.

Name:  Mike Mesmin

Position:  Central Midfield

Managers Comments:  If Joe is one of the youngest, then Mes is certainly the oldest, but don’t let that fool you.  Mes has been around forever (no really), but he’s the sort of player that any first team would love to have.  He’s fitness is second to none and he’s even been known to get the odd goal or two.

Name:  Jimmy McCann

Position:  Left Midfield

Managers Comments:  Jimmy is in he’s second season at the club and has come on leaps and bounds.  Although starting off as a left back, he’s trickery has moved him up to left midfield, where he causes havoc down the wing.

Name:  Steve Newland

Position:  Forward

Managers Comments:  Steve is the first of our two new strikers.  It’s fair to say that the last couple of seasons the first team haven’t had one real ’20 goal a season’ man, but it looks like we may have two now.  Steve has started off very brightly for the club and long may it continue.

Name:  Wesley Griffiths

Position:  Forward

Managers Comments:  Wesley is Steve’s partner in crime and between them scored around 50 goals last season.  Wesley has an abundance of pace, get him one on one with anyone and there is only ever going to be one outcome.  It’s a pleasure to welcome them both to the club.

Name:  Nick Jennings

Position:  Central Midfield

Managers Comments:  Nick has also been with the club for a few years now and is a very pacey, dynamic central midfielder.  When he’s not hitting (or trying to hit) 60 yard balls, Nick has the ability to tear defences apart and the pace to get forward and bang in the odd goal or two.

Name:  Steve Townsend

Position:  Central Midfield

Managers Comments:  Steve is in he’s second season at the club.  I had the privilege to manage him last season with the second team and although he’s young, he’s a big lad and doesn’t shirk away from anything, no matter who he’s playing against.

Name:  Jacob Dixon

Position:  Forward

Managers Comments:  Mr Quiet or Jacob as he’s known is a real powerhouse of a centre forward.  Again, at only 16, he’s stronger than he’s age suggests and causes all sorts of problems for any central defender he comes up against.

Name:  Shawn Baptiste

Position:  Central Midfield

Managers Comments:  Shawn has been with the club for a few seasons now, he’s a very skilful, tricky midfielder who can ping balls all around the park with ease.
